BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The countdown to the 2018-19 basketball season is rapidly approaching and CSU Bakersfield’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are planning to kick the year off with a bang. The Roadrunners are inviting their fans to fill up the Icardo Center on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. for the annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage presented by Bakersfield Hyundai, KGET 17, and Fresco Mexican Grill.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams are giving fans the opportunity to meet the 2018-19 squads while providing an evening filled with exciting basketball action and prizes. The event will feature intra-squad scrimmages for both the ‘Runner men and women, three-point shooting and slam dunk contests, and preseason chalk talks from our head coaches.

Throughout the night, the CSUB Spirit Squad and Pep Band will be on site to entertain fans while the one and only Rowdy the Roadrunner will be there to put smiles on faces. The new, over-the-court video board will be in action, so, keep your eye out for our in-game promotions; you might just catch yourself on the FlexCam or DanceCam.

As has become tradition at CSUB’s Blue-Gold Scrimmages, this year’s event will also feature an exciting opportunity for one lucky fan to win a brand new Hyundai Kona. The contestant will be randomly selected and can drive home with the grand prize if he or she can sink a half-court shot. You can sign up ahead of time at this link or at the event. The contestant must be present to have an opportunity to win.

Come on out to the Icardo Center Thursday night, Oct. 18. Admission is free and the doors will open at 7 p.m. for the public with our event kicking off shortly after the hour. Current season ticket holders are encouraged to arrive as early as 6 p.m. for ticket pickup and early entrance.
