UCLA welcomed Long Beach State to beautiful Pauly Pavilion Friday evening in an unexpected early season test. It was a back and first first half with State having the biggest lead by either team (7). The Bruins ended the first half with a 4 point lead as starting point guard Jaylen Hands hit a 3 point a few steps inside of half court to get the Bruin faithful to its feet for the highlight of the first half.
Freshman McDonald’s All-American Moses Brown had his second career double double logging 17 points and 10 rebounds along with sophomore Kris Wilkes with 17 point of his own to lead the Bruins.
You couldn’t tell by the stats, but the reserves were the brightest spot for the Bruins on the evening as they sparked a 23-5 run in the 2nd half that would key the victory.
Local freshman David Singleton (Bishop Montgomery) was 3-4 from distance to have 10 points off the bench.
Long Beach State was led by senior point guard Deishuan Booker with 31 points in defeat.
