Dodgers Hold on to NL West Lead Through All June

The Los Angeles Dodgers went 6-4 in the last 10 games (at Press time). During the stretch the Men in Blue took 2 of 3 games from San Francisco. Corey Seager went three of four following intentional walks to Cody Bellinger. He also had four RBI’s in a 7-2 win.

“The situation called for it,” said Seager. “What he’s been doing called for it. It’s a baseball move. It puts some guys on for you, which can be a big situation for you and lock you back in. It’s nice to have guys on and you understand the move.”

The win preceded a 1-0 victory in the final game of the series as Max Muncy launched into McCovey Cove a homer off Giant pitcher Madison Bumgarner. It was a firey moment as the two exchanged words as Muncy rounded the bases.

The Dodger then suffered a two game sweep in the Battle For Los Angeles by identical scores of 5-3. In game one Trout hit a tying two-run homer in the seventh, and Shohei Ohtani slid home from third with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning of the Angels’ win. In the second game, Ohtani started off a five-run rally with a home run and that help lead to the sweep.

The Dodgers returned to Dodger Stadium to take three of four from the Cubs. Cody Bellinger help get the Dodgers going with a pair of homeruns and Max Muncy and David Freese each hit two run blast in a 7-3 Dodger win. The Cubs Jon Lester gave up three homeruns and Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw (6-1) gave up two along with seven hits in six innings of work, while striking out eight.

“Its not great but I can live with it, “ said Kershaw.

Julio Urias earned the save  after going three innings.

In the final game of the series. Russel Martin singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and rookie Alex Verdogo  Came up the a diving catch to end the game to help give the Dodgers a 3-2 win Verdugo has also hit the longest home run at the stadium this season (427 feet)  . L.A. his tied with Houston (48-25 ) [at press time] for the Best record in baseball.

DODGER NOTES: The Dodgers have a 10 game lead over Arizona and Colorado in the NL West…Cody Bellinger is the N.L.All-Star Leading Vote getter…SS Cory Seager went on the DL with a hamstring injury.Hyun- Jin hasn’t allowed an earn run at home since April 26. He is also 6-0 at Dodger Stadium with an .087 ERA.
