“God’s Chosen Disciples” Presents The Last Christmas
Letter to the Editor
Chamoni Norwood, 17, always had a passion for writing. She started writing in the 6th grade when her teacher assigned a project to add song lyrics to a song already made. When she wrote her lyrics, everyone loved it. Her teacher told her that she’s talented and one day she will be famous. She kept those words with her forever. As she got older she realized that she loved to tell stories. Norwood wrote her first play at 14 in 8th grade. She wrote, directed and produced a short, sweet play called, “Remembering Christmas.” However, during this time she was struggling with severe depression and anxiety. Writing was her way of keeping herself alive. She believes that it saved her life. Now, Norwood is thriving in her senior year of high school. She’s a varsity cheerleader, president of The Black Student Union (BSU) and an excelling student at Golden Valley. She is focused on her taking care of her mental health and focusing on her future.
