Yet again the Los Angeles Clippers in conjunction with The L.A. Clippers Foundation continue to infuse themselves into the community with their thoughtful and impactful events. Just a week before Christmas in partnership with The Salvation Army Siemon Family Youth and Community Center, the Clippers foundation has insured multiple families will have food and gifts to celebrate the Holiday Season by sponsoring their 14th annual Adopt A Family event.

After dinner was provided to the families in attendance Los Angeles Clippers Rodney McGruder and Patrick Patterson shared reading time with the children present before they participated in a gift distribution. Each child received presents, books, and other giveaways during the event. The families in attendance were also able to select a pair of shoes that were provided by the Hav-A-Sole Foundation (https://havasole.com/), which have brought in a variety of shoes for all family members to choose from. https://youtu.be/KEO7hMC4YdU

Their 36,903 sq. ft. Salvation Army Siemon Family Youth & Community Center located on S. Central Avenue and 76th Place consistently provide the community with various programs to aid families in need. Their after-school youth development services offer assistance during the crucial hours when school is out and parents are absent from home is among the most critical programs that they have for children and families. Additionally, they have a licensed daycare center, chapel, and the youth center. not to mention the youth center, which offers tutoring in math, reading, and writing; computer education, instruction in the arts (visual arts, dance); and sports, including basketball and soccer leagues. This Community Center also features a library, computer lab with 30 terminals, classrooms, gymnasium, fitness center, and an art studio.

This event was capped off by the Los Angeles Clippers players announcement once the dinner was served, they read books with the children and the gifts were handed out. Rodney McGruder and Patrick Patterson admitted to adding to this event by giving the parents more than they could’ve anticipated. Not only they give them gifts cards to use during this holiday season, but they also provided the parents with partial rent payments for the upcoming month. Many of the parents were more elated to receive their gifts as the children were. You can see their expressions by reviewing the attached link. https://youtu.be/cQK4BDUuM78

This is the second event that The Salvation Army Siemon Family Youth & Community Center and the L.A. Clippers Foundation have partnered on to aid the community within a few months. Earlier in the year, the Los Angeles Clippers provided food and clothes for many children as they returned to school. They continue to utilize its unique position to provide resources and opportunities that make a positive difference toward leveling the playing field for youth in Southern California.
