During these strange and awkward times in this country, as we are dealing with the potentially fatal COVID19 Pandemic, where the local government has implemented relaxed rent and mortgage penalties for some of it’s citizens. One Local athlete and landlord has followed suit for his tenants. The 2003 4th Round draft of the Philadelphia Phillies and a Houston Texas native Michael Ray Bourn has ventured property management since his retirement and has decided to offer some much-needed assistance to many of his tenants.

Bourn finished his Major League Baseball career with over 5000 plate appearances, 361 Runs Batted In, he also finished with a .266 Batting Average including a .329 On Base percentage. As a 2-time, All-Star player for the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Braves and the Bourn also hit 36 Home Runs, though his most impressive Home Run is likely the one he just made announcing that he will be relieving the rent of his tenants for the month of April and May.

As the owner of three apartment complexes, the 37-year old Houston Native Bourn has announced that he has waived the rent for his 60 tenants for April and May. When asked about this gesture, Michael told Mark Berman of FOX 26 Houston, “I think it’s the best thing to do to help those out that are in need.” He continued on to say, “Waiving rent for those people at this time is helpful in their lives,” he added. “Some people are getting laid off work, some people need that (money) for groceries.”

British statesman, orator, and author who as prime minister American Winston Churchill speaks about how challenging times brings out the best in people, “Kites rise highest against the wind, not with it.” This is just another example of the graciousness and giving back which we enjoy highlighting and promoting via www.whatsgoodinsports.com.
