BAKERSFIELD, CA – Bakersfield has been especially hit hard by the Coronavirus, recently ranking as the ninth most vulnerable economy in the county. In areas such as Southwest Bakersfield, communities of color have seen even greater economic disruptions to households due to rising unemployment and reduces access to food supplies.

To help turn this around, local nonprofit MLK CommUNITY Initiative/ COLDf – which provides resources to help the socio-economically disadvantages community of Southwest Bakersfield achieve economic revitalization — is collaborating with Bank of America to offer a free, virtual 8-week series on a range of financial topics essential to building better money habits especially in stressful times like today.

The financial educational series will have local BofA leaders present it’s Better Money Habits curriculum, beginning on August 20th for all community members virtually on topics such as:

– Setting & Achieving Goals

– Spending and Saving

– Budgeting and Banking

– Building Healthy Credit

– Financial Safety

– Income and Paychecks
