The Bakersfield Chapter of Links, Incorporated joins the Nation in the Count Down to Election 2020 as a force for good. Under its National Trends and Services Facet, the Chapter’s goal is to  increase the number of registered voters in Kern County.  In the coming weeks, Chapter members will mobilize to increase participation through voter awareness, education and registration.

Through advocacy, the  Chapter will highlight the power of the VOTE to improve the quality of life in the Kern County community. This means addressing issues and policies to eliminate  disparities and barriers to economic security, access to quality healthcare and education and mandates for social justice and the betterment for all people.  There are two,Town Hall meetings  with community leaders scheduled: Thursday September 24, 2020 starting at 5:30pm and October 14, 2020 (same time)to provide resources for their constituents. In addition, the Bakersfield Chapter is partnering with local faith based organizations, senior centers, high schools, colleges, universities, fraternal and civic organizations to make sure that all eligible citizens have an opportunity to register and to be able to vote in person or vote by mail; “every voice and vote counts”.  The chapter is providing posters, flyers, QR postcards to help streamline the process for citizens to register to vote as well as timelines with critical dates to satisfy voting requirement for eligible voters. This includes pre-registration opportunities for 16 and 17 year olds.  All materials will be made available during the Town Hall Meetings.
