Joey Yellen (Mission Viejo High) got his first start for the Pitt Panthers. He completed 22 of 46 passes for 277 yards and one TD in a 33-19 loss to Miami. The 6-3, 215 pounder replaced starter Kenny Pickett who suffered an ankle injury the previous week against Boston College. Yellen began his college career at Arizona State where he only had one start against USC and he completed 28 of 44 passes for 292 yards and four touchdowns in a Sun Devil 31-26 loss. He transferred to Pitt in January 2020. While playing at Mission Viejo he threw for 6,131 yards and 57 touchdowns on the way to compiling a 22-3 record. He was selected for the Under Armour All-American game. He played under head coach Chad Johnson. Bubba Bolden former USC Trojan had six tackles for Miami (4-1, 3-1). Jaelan Phillips from Redlands (East Valley) had 3-tackles and a sack also for the Canes. Matt Corral (Long Beach Poly) of went 20 of 38 for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns but had six interceptions for OLE Miss in a 33-21 loss to Arkansas (2-2, 2-2). Carrol and The Rebels (1-3) host Auburn this week. He entered the game second in the SEC in yards passing. Senior RB Najee Harris (Antioch High) ran for 152 yards on 31 carries to lead #2 Alabama to a 41-24 victory over Georgia. The Crimson Tide (4-0) had head coach Nick Saban return to the sideline after dealing with a false positive COVID-19 test.
