WASHINGTON DC – Today, former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris announced their support of Congresswoman Maxine Waters who is running for reelection to Congress from California’s 43rd Congressional District. The 43rd Congressional District of California includes a large part of South Central Los and the diverse cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita and Torrance.
“In her years of service to California’s 43rd Congressional District, Congresswoman Maxine Waters has delivered results as a legislator, community organizer, and fearless advocate for women and children, people of color, and the poor,” said former Vice President Joe Biden. “She has fought to protect and strengthen the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and to ensure affordable housing for all – I’m proud to support her legislation to end homelessness nationwide. The first African American and first woman to chair the House Financial Services Committee, Congresswoman Waters has been critical in confronting the devastating impact of the COVID-19 crisis on working families, the poor, and small businesses across the country, securing relief including small business funding and a moratorium on evictions and foreclosures. Congresswoman Waters is a proven champion for her district and working families across the country, and I’m proud to support her reelection.”
“I’m so proud to endorse my friend Congresswoman Maxine Waters to represent California’s 43rd Congressional District,” said Senator Kamala Harris. “In times of crisis or collapse, Congresswoman Waters has always met the moment with vigor and enthusiasm, understanding that change is always possible for those who are willing to fight for it. She is a leader in her caucus and has worked with the Speaker of the House, Treasury Department, and Federal Reserve to advance legislation to confront the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic on our nation’s public health and the economy. I encourage everyone in California’s 43rd district to get out the vote and support Congresswoman Waters for reelection.”
