The community is invited to register online for a “virtual test drive” event to help Jim Burke Lincoln raise money to support Kern Community Foundation’s Give Big Kern 2021 efforts—and it doesn’t cost a penny to contribute to this charitable cause!

The free philanthropic fun is scheduled to take place twice on Friday, December 4, at 1 and 5 p.m. through a “Driven to Give” virtual vehicle tour of top-of-the-line Lincoln models—the Aviator and Navigator at 1 p.m., the Corsair and Nautilus at 5 p.m.

Up to 150 guests can register for each virtual tour. At the end of the tour, each attendee will be asked to complete a post-tour survey. For every survey received, Lincoln Motor Company will donate $25 to Kern Community Foundation. The money will be used to benefit Kern County nonprofits participating in next year’s Give Big Kern.

“The more money that is raised, the more we will be able to give away as competitive prizes to hard-working Kern County nonprofits,” said Louis Medina, the Foundation’s Director of Community Impact who is in charge of Give Big Kern.

The public can visit to register.

“It takes just 30 minutes to Give BIG! in support of Kern County nonprofits,” said Jim Burke Lincoln’s Marketing Director Lezley Pumphrey.

Kern Community Foundation President and CEO Kristen Beall Watson expressed some heartfelt holiday gratitude for Jim Burke Lincoln’s support. “Since 2018, Jim Burke Lincoln has been supporting Give Big Kern nonprofits through Driven to Give test drive events,” she said. “We are so grateful for Lincoln Motor Company’s creativity and generosity in adapting Driven to Give to a COVID-safe virtual format, thus allowing our very community-minded local dealership to introduce their best Lincoln models to the public, while raising money for Give Big Kern during these most challenging times.”

About Give Big Kern

Hosted by Kern Community Foundation, Give Big Kern is an online crowdfunding event that takes place on the first Tuesday in May—May 4 in 2021. Give Big Kern allows nonprofits to raise unrestricted dollars and sign up volunteers willing to donate their time and talents through the Giving Day Platform It is a FREE gift from the Foundation to our nonprofit partners that is possible only thanks to sponsors’ generous support.

Since its launch in 2016, Give Big Kern has raised more than  $1.7 million and procured close to 385,000 pledged volunteer hours from thousands of community members for hard-working local charities.

Because it is an online, social-distancing-safe fundraising effort, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Give Big Kern 2020 became a great source of support for 125 participating nonprofits, many of which had lost revenue from canceled live-event-based fundraisers. Close to three-quarters of a million dollars was raised in this year’s effort.

Thanks to the generous support of sponsors like Jim Burke Lincoln, participating agencies get to compete for prizes for the most dollars raised, most volunteer hours pledged, 100% board member participation, the donation from the farthest away, and more!

Give Big Kern is the 2019 and 2020 recipient of the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce’s Beautiful Bakersfield Award for helping to create “A Better Bakersfield” by engaging the community in support of local charities.
