After a week of turnovers and questions marks and a tough last second loss to San Francisco the Rams put together a game that spelled “TEAM” on both sides of the ball.
The results was a 38-28 win over Arizona in a game that appeared after the first quarter the Rams (8-4) were in control the entire way.
After trailing 7-0 Jarred Goff marched the team on an 85-yard 14 play drive-During which he converted four third-down plays including a 12-yard touchdown to Cooper Kupp on a third and four.
During the game he had no surprising interceptions, no drive killing fumbles it was all steady while completing 21 of 27 passes in the first half a touchdown with no interceptions.
“I responded exactly how I expected to, I’ve been through a lot of bad things in my football career before and I’ve consistently responded, and this is no different,” said Goff.
Darrell Henderson (49) and Cam Akers (72) were solid on the ground combining for 119 yards and each scoring a rushing touchdown. It’s the second week in a row Akers is team leading rusher.
The ground attack helped nearly double the edge in time of possession 38:53 to 21:07 to go with 30 first downs.
Goff spread out his passes and the steady Robert Woods led the way with 10 catches for 85 yards. Kupp had 9 catches for 73 yards a 9 yards per catch average. Gerald Everett had six catches for 44 yards “When Goff is in rhythm the RAMS offense starts rolling,” said Woods.
He finished the day going 37 of 47 passes for 351yards giving him a passer rating of 104.2. this marks the sixth game of the season Goff has a 100.0 rating or higher.
“I really wasn’t worried About Jared, I mean this guy has responded from so many adversities,” said Sean McVay. The thing I wasn’t worried about was him being overwhelmed and having a tough outing and then respond. He took great care of the football and we were efficient on third down.”
Aaron Donald made his presents known with pressure all day having a QB hit and a sack, his 11th of the season for a nine-yard loss. He now has 83 for a career.
The defense did a superb job holding the Cardinals (6-6) elusive Kyler Murray to 140 yards passing while sacking him twice for 33 yards in losses. He only completed 21 of 39 for 173 yards-He had 15 yards. The defense forced four three and outs during the game. They lead the league with 36 three and out by the opponents.
Troy Hill scored one three Ram 4th quarter touchdowns with a 36-yard pick-six. It’s the second straight week in a row Hill had made a clutch scoring play. Last week vs. the Niners he scooped up a fumble for a score.
RAMS NOTE: The win assured the 4th winning season for L.A. McVay is 7-0 vs the Cardinals. The Rams take on The Patriots in a short week. It does not phase Sean McVay. “The difference you can do in a typical week opposed to a Thursday game is areal big emphasis above the neck.” Because of a Seattle loss the Rams are tied for first have hold the tiebreaker edge for the playoffs with the Seahawks.
