State Senator Steven Bradford has nominated Treasurer Wanda Brown, Woman of the Year. Dr. Wanda M. Brown, has served as City Treasurer for 32 years. She is the longest serving elected officer in the history of the City of Inglewood. She is among the best professionally qualified Treasurers in the nation. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Cal-State University Long Beach, MBA from UCLA, and post graduate studies at UCLA, and a double doctorate from Ministerial Training Institute in Biblical Counseling and Church Administration. Additionally, she is a licensed Real Estate Broker, Life & Disability Agent, and is a Registered Representative, licensed to sell mutual funds investments and variable contracts.

Treasurer Brown she has greatly enhanced and renovated the Treasurer Office. She has earned more than $90,000,000 in Gross Investment Interest Income. She prepared the first comprehensive Investment Policy and Treasurer Investment Oversight committee for the City.

Treasurer Brown established an after school four week City Treasurer Student Intern Program for students enrolled in the 8th through the 12th grades. Students are taught about their local municipal government, how their local official represent the city, tour several city departments, and are taught important financial concepts and strategies. Treasurer Brown also conducts Getting Your House in Financial Order workshops annually for the Inglewood residents, as well as Free Income Tax Preparation service for seniors whose income does not exceed $50,000. She was given an award by the California Department of Corrections for parole and community service.

Treasurer Wanda Brown was honored for 31 years of excellence at the April 2018 City Council Meeting. The mayor, each councilmember, and a host of City employees thanked the Treasurer for her service to the City and excellent investments made on behalf of the City. Congresswoman Maxine Waters attended to extend her congratulations to the Treasurer.
