Even while playing short-handed the Lakers the won their second straight after the break. They were missing Anthony Davis because of a calf. Marc Gasol and forward Kostas Antetokounmpo are both in COVID health and safety protocols. Alex Caruso has a concussion and Jared Dudley has a torn knee ligament.
After all that they still came away with a 128-97 blowout win over the Warriors.
Montrezl Harrell had 27 points off the bench with 19 coming in the first half. He was one of nine Lakers players to score at the midway point.
“The bench was high energy,” said LeBron. “They’ve been like this all year.”
Lebron James had a triple double scoring 22 while adding 11 and 10 boards. It was his 61st triple double after turning 30.
Horton-Tucker had 18. “He had a hell of a game tonight he was going downhill,” said Kuzma. “I’ve been trying to get him in the paint more. Once he gets in the paint he’s one of the top three or four guys that are real effective.”
Vs Indiana Pacers: In the first game after the All-Star break the Lakers fell into an early trail by as many as 12 points in the fourth period.
They went on a 22-4 run and came away with a 105-100 win over the Pacers at Staples. It was the tenth time this season the team has come back from double digits to win.
It was tenacious defense and good passing that led to the win. Kyle Kuzma led the charge going 5 for 8 shooting including 2 three pointers. he added 4 rebounds all in the fourth.
“The game slows down for him every year,” said James. “He knows his role and he does it at a high-level tonight was an example of that.”
Kuzma finished with a game high 24 points and 13 boards.
Montrezl Harrell had 17 points and 6 boards and a season high three blocks. The 27 year-old is shooting 62% -that’s 4th in the league. LeBron had 18 points and 10 assists for his 16th double-double of the season.
ADD LAKERS: Anthony Davis will be out an additional two after an evaluation last week. Alex Caruso is in concussion protocol (at press time). The Lakers may be welcoming fans as COVID protocol are changing in California.
