Will be located at site of vacant Kmart on Wilson Road

Bakersfield, CA (April 2, 2021) – The City of Bakersfield’s positive business climate and ideal location in California’s Central Valley has proved to be an attraction for a new Amazon last mile delivery station. The new facility will be located in an existing 93,000-square-foot vacant building, located at 3500-3600 Wilson Road, that housed a former Kmart. With this announcement, Amazon will create approximately 200 new permanent jobs for Bakersfield residents.

We expect to see more business growth and expansion in Bakersfield in the near future.”

According to Amazon, the Last Mile team helps get customer packages from delivery stations to a customer’s doorstep. Amazon has grown its Last Mile delivery efforts helping to speed up customer delivery times and provide new innovations to customers. To make that happen, the empty building on Wilson will undergo a major $20 million renovation. Amazon is expected to begin operations by fourth quarter 2021.

The facility renovation will add to the local neighborhood and improve the business corridor by providing a new parking lot, enhanced lighting along with attractive landscaping. A number of building renovations will be completed to support Amazon’s operations including a new roof and the addition of roll up bay doors to accommodate last mile delivery service.
