Rachael Garcia threw a no-hitter against Oregon State leading UCLA to a series opening win. The All-American Garcia (8-0) struck-out 12 and walked three in using 90 pitches for the shut-out. It was her second career no-hitter. The “Super Senior” also knocked in a run.
Aalyiah Jordan had two hits including a home run and scored twice. Brianna Perez also had two RBI’s in a 7-0 Bruin win.
In game two it was Megan Faraimo (11-2) tossing a one-hitter walking none striking out a career high 17 batters.
UCLA had seven hits from six different players. Junior Kinsley Washington had two hits scored a run and knocked in a run in another 7-0 win over the Beavers.
In the series finale Perez had a two-run triple and Maya Brady homered to conclude the sweep for the Bruins (25-2, 8-1) over the Beavers (15-20, 3-12)
Holly Azavedo (5-0) struck out 5 in six innings of work.
ADD BRUINS: Garcia was names UCLA Student Athlete of the Week. She also was named PAC-12 Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. She also went 3 for 8 (.375 at the plate) with 3 RBI’s. The 2nd ranked BRUINS will host Washington this weekend at Easton Stadium.
