The Rams have made several key acquisitions this off-season with names like Mathew Stafford, DeSean Jackson, and resigned Leonard Floyd that makes any Rams fan intrigued for what is to come.
Stafford has not thrown a pass that counts for the Rams, but if you listen to members of the number one defense in the league he’s ready to take them where they want to go.
One year ago Aaron Donald disrupted practice day after day. This season Stafford is getting rid of the ball with short routes, not letting the big guy get a chance. This has lead to some good team play by the offense.
During the Scrimmage in Oxnard with the Dallas Cowboys Stafford was sharp completing his first four of seven passes during seven-on -seven drills. During one session “Roadrunner’ Jackson ran by two Cowboy defenders and Stafford hit him in stride.
“Those are things that have been seen consistently in practice,” said head coach Sean McVay. “We want to continue to build off that but it’s a good balance. “We want to be consistent and explosive and I thought that was a good example of creating explosiveness. It was a big time throw across the grain.”
This was important because it may be the only time Stafford sees action in the pre-season. The Rams have already had one scare with Stafford hitting his hand.
“It was good just to get a feel of a different rush patters up front different ways the offense are attacking,” added McVay.
“On the defensive side second year man Jordan Fuller is doing a great job.” He’s also happy with the play of Taylor Rapp.
The Rams Donald and the Cowboys guard Conner Williams got in a mini scuffle. That went on for a few moments.
Floyd who just signed a new 4-year deal in the off season looks like he’s ready for game day.
Also LB Justin Hollins has made strides he’s played limited time last season 16 games. The third year man has been active to the ball in camp this pre-season
The Rams first two Pre Season games will be at So-Fi Stadium Saturday the 7th against the Chargers then Aug 14th where they will host the Raiders.
