This was the first full week of college football. There are several players from the Golden State who shined bright on the stage. 

CJ Verdell (Chula Vista-Mater Dei High) ran for 165 yards on 20 carries including a 77-yard touchdown jaunt as Oregon defeated #3 Ohio State in Columbus 35-28. The junior also had 3 catches for 35 yards. It was the first ever win for the Ducks (2-0) over the Buckeyes (1-1). 

On the opposite sideline CJ Stroud (Rancho Cucamonga High)  completed 35 of 54 passes for 484 yards and 3 touchdowns as Ohio State (1-1) fell short at home against the Ducks.   

Stephen Carr (Fontana-Summit High and USC) rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown in helping Indiana to a 54-6. The former Trojan has rushed for 184 yards in the first two games for the Hoosiers (1-1).   

Matt Carral (Long Beach Poly High) hit for 21 of 33 passes for 281 yards and five touchdowns to help Ole Miss (2-0) defeat Austin Peay 54-17. The former Jackrabbit also earned Walter Camp National Player of the Year Award for the second time in his career.

Bryce Young (Mater Dei High) threw for 344 yards while connecting on 27 of 38 passes for three TD’s leading #1 ranked Alabama to a 44-13 win over Miami… DJ Uiagalelei got his team back in the winner column after a tough loss opening week loss to Georgia. The former St John Bosco High stand-out went 14 of 24 for 175 yards and a TD. Healso has five carries for 35 yards and two scores, that helped  lead Clemson to a 49-3 victory over South Carolina State. 

“I felt good back in the stadium (Clemson) I just wanted to come back with fire,” said Uiagalelei. “I feel like I left a lot of stuff back the table vs Georgia. I just wanted to come out there and prove myself play a great game and be focused.”
