The UCLA softball team flexed its muscles and came away with a 9-1 win over Ole Miss propelling themselves in to the Super Regionals that they will host this weekend.

It was fifth-year senior Holly Azevedo who was a wiz on the mound throwing no-hit ball for 4 2/3 innings. She struck out three and walked just two batters in running her record to 19-2 on the season.

“I think a lot of times, we get down on ourselves and we wanna say ‘Oh, what ifs,’ and all that stuff,” Azevedo said. “Honestly, at the end of the day, we got the win, we advanced to the Super Regionals, so I’m just happy about that.”

Bruins jumped out to an early lead as Kinsley Washington singled to get things started. Then stole second and scored when Delanie Wisz doubled to left center. Maya Brady doubled to center scoring Wisz. Allyssa Garcia followed with a single that scored Brady. Freshman  “Savi” Pola singled to center. Later in the inning Anna Vines ripped a single to plate Pola and Garcia.

The Lady Bruins (46-8) will host Duke (44-9) this weekend in the Super Regionals for a chance to go to the WCWS for the 30th time.
