Herbie Hancock and Kamasi Washington Curate 43rd Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival

Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announced their lineup for the 43rd two-day Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl on June 17-18, 2023.

Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announced their lineup for the 43rd two-day Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl on June 17-18, 2023. For the first time, this event will have co-curators collaborating to make this one of the most unique events yet. Reunited after their 2017 collaboration, Titans of the Jazz genre Herbie Hancock and Kamasi Washington will together provide Southern California concertgoers a memorable experience this Father’s Day weekend.

Having performed at the Hollywood Bowl multiple times in the past several decades, Hancock brings his 14-time Grammy and Oscar-winning experience to this unique venue. Though he will not be performing during this event, the LA Phil’s Creative Chair of Jazz continues to reimagine the art of Jazz. The Los Angeles native Washington and saxophone virtuoso has been Grammy and Emmy nominated, and he brings his live contemporary musical style to the stage for fans to enjoy.     

“I am so honored to be invited by the LA Phil to co-curate this year’s Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival with the great Herbie Hancock. Herbie is one of the greatest musicians to live. I am so grateful to be working with him on this special show,” Washington said. “Herbie and I have been working with the LA Phil team to create a one-of-a-kind experience that we hope will leave the audience with excitement, joy, life, soul and most of all great music!”

   Hosted by Arsenio Hall, this two-day event is known as Southern California’s largest party, kicks off Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 3:30. Along with Hancock and Washington as they will have an impressive list of artists performing, which includes:

The second day of events at the Hollywood Bowl will include a mixture of an artistic and eclectic lineup of performers. These artists range from talented vocalists to hip-hop artists to Beninese guitarists and gospel singers. This Jazz Festival will have music for everyone to enjoy.
