A Mother’s Love Foundation Back to School Supplies Giveaway

As parents, you are probably wondering where the summer season has gone. These past few months have gone by so fast. Before you know it, kids will be returning to school, or kids will start their educational journey in a couple of weeks. Teens and adults will be returning to local campuses or transferring to a new campus as a result of a new grade level or relocation.

(Hawthorne, Ca) As parents, you are probably wondering where the summer season has gone. These past few months have gone by so fast.

Before you know it, kids will be returning to school, or kids will start their educational journey in a couple of weeks. Teens and adults will be returning to local campuses or transferring to a new campus as a result of a new grade level or relocation.

Advertisements for back-to-school sales are seen on television, on the radio, as well as inserts in local newspapers and mailers.

The excitement of a new school year is approaching. For many families in the community, it can be overshadowed by the burden of affording essential school supplies.

Hawthorne school students had an early opportunity to get ready for the back-to-school season. A Mother’s Love Foundation, Founded by Tiffany Johnson-Minor, stepped in and stepped up to ease some of the burden of acquiring school supplies so that students will be better prepared for the new school year.

On Saturday, August 4, 2024, A Mother’s Love Foundation hosted its Annual Back to School Supply Giveaway at Eucalyptus Park in Hawthorne. The park is located at 12100 S. Inglewood Avenue.

The event provided hundreds of underprivileged children with the necessary tools and resources to start their academy journey with confidence.

Parents and kids were greeted by Courtney Barnes and La Tina Castillo at the Registration Check-in Table upon arrival at the park.

The day’s program consisted of free backpacks, school supplies (notebooks, pens, pencils, notepads, to name a few), face paintings, art & crafts, interactive engaging games, photo booth pictures, free delicious lunches- hamburgers, hot dolls, chips, and water, as well orange chicken and rice or super greens and rice from a team from Panda Express.

David Rivera and Crystal Llanos from Raising Canes were on site to give out a variety of school supplies.

A Mother’s Love Foundation has been working in the community for several years. The foundation is making a difference in the lives of many families by offering the following services:

M.O.M- Mothers of Movement program assists parents of special needs children by providing information on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). We also link families, advocates, and self-advocates together to aid in the care each child needs.

P.O.O.F- Protecting Our Own Future, assist our youth in finding their purpose or way in the world. We empower youth to make healthy choices for themselves so that can become the youth they want to be.

F.A.C.T- Family All Coming Together helps pregnant and parenting young adults learn to care for themselves and their babies. We strive to support the young parents’ need to continue their educational plan or find a job to support themselves and become self-sufficient.
