(Los Angeles, CA) The award-winning Compton Fest, presented by Divine Media Group, was held on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Charles R. Drew University of Science and Medicine was the host venue for the Compton Fest ’25- a phenomenal celebration of culture, community, and global impact in South L.A.
It’s no loss on this writer that the Divine Media Group, led by DeMira Pierre, is keeping it real, hosting Compton Fest on the institutions of higher learning. The inaugural celebration was held on the campus of Compton College.
Compton Fest ‘25 is back for its second year, bringing an even bigger and bolder celebration of culture, community, and creativity to the heart of Compton!
Compton Fest 25- Compton to the World provided guests with an unforgettable experience with live music performances, inspiring workshops, thought-provoking panels, and an impactful community centered around the 2025 pillars- Health Equity, Disaster Preparedness, Youth Empowerment, and Senior Care.
A steady flow of guests attended the Compton Fest despite the hot weather in the region. McDonald’s provided some cool, refreshing drinks to guests all afternoon.
Dr. Dapper returned as host of Compton Fest ’25-Compton to the World. Compton Mayor Emma Sharif, Compton City Councilmembers Deidre Duhart, District 1, and Jonathan Bowers, District 3, were joined by Congresswoman Maxine Waters, CD-43, and California State Senator Laura Richardson, District 35, onsite to enjoy the festivities.
Compton Mayor Emma Sharif presented several Community Impact Awards to several groups, individuals, and businesses. Compton Wellness Collective, Project Blue, Marching Beauties, Comp10. The Community Youth Leadership Award was presented to Omari Ford by Mayor Emma Sharif and another award from Education is Key. The Community Development Award was presented to P31 Development Corporation, St. Albert the Great Elementary School, and to Kerri Harper-Howie and Nicole Harper Rawlins, owners of 24 McDonald’s.
The spotlight shone brightly on the Divas of Compton for a great performance. The Divas of Compton Youth Performances were powered by Kaiser’s Permanente’s Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.
Michael J. Fisher livens up the festivities with a high-octane, energized set of inspiring Gospel tracks. Yes, We Outside, having CHURCH!
Carlton Roberts moderated the panel “Healthy Him.” The distinguished panel consisted of Dr. Rasheed Ivy, aka Compton Doc, John Gaines, and Michael Jai White.
The next panel, “About the Business,” was moderated by Ellie Andrews and featured Corwin Johnson (McDonald’s), Beyonka Ray (P31 Development Corporation), and Kerri Harper-Howie, owner of 24 McDonald’s.
The final panel, “Healthy Her,” was moderated by Tammi Mac with an esteemed panel of Dr. Pierre, AJ Akua Johnson, and Tiara Neal.

Compton Mayor Emma Sharif presented the Global Impact Award to singer, songwriter, and producer Eric Bellinger. Eric Bellinger showcased some of the amazing performers from his All Wins Entertainment Record Label: Dom Belli, Isaiah Jaay, and Syx. Eric Bellinger thrilled the crowd by performing several of his hits from his extended catalog.

Stannaman, Genia, and Randy Saavy were additional superb performers who were part of the amazing lineup to entertain a captivated crowd.
