Dodgers has Successful Road Trip

Facing his hometown team Muncy tied LA’s club record with his third grand slam of the season, and it was a major league-leading 10th for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers won a come from behind game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Dodger Stadium this week. LA trailed 7-3 at one point before climbing back to win 8-7. James Outman came through with a clutch walk-off hit in the 10th inning to propel the Dodgers to the win. 

Outman ripped a liner to right centerfield the Blue Jays OF Kevin Kiermaier jumped at the wall to try and rob Outman. He was unable to make the catch, but the ball bounced off the wall and a run scored, ultimately giving the Dodgers the win. Outman also commented on his clutch moment. 

“I was hoping it wasn’t caught,” Outman said. “I was just hoping it would land so we could win the game.” 

Outman earn his first walk-off hit of the season. And it was the first time the Men in Blue fought back from a four run ninth inning deficit in 17 years.  

Freddie Freeman and J.D. Martinez hit home runs for the Dodgers, who trailed 7-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth after the Blue Jays scored three in the top of the inning. 

After an early season horrible look the Dodgers have settled down regrouped and come together after the All-Star break.  On a recent nine game road trip they became a hit machine. 

They won two of three games against the Mets winning 6-0 and 5-1- next came Baltimore with 6-4 and 10-3 victories. 

Also included were big wins versus Texas 11-5 and 16-3 victories in their first two games at Globe Life Field since winning the neutral-site 2020 World Series there when Max Muncy hit his 24th homer into the seats in right field off Pérez. 

Facing his hometown team Muncy tied LA’s club record with his third grand slam of the season, and it was a major league-leading 10th for the Dodgers.  

“Just trying to get myself to relax,” said Muncy, “ If I can get myself to relax and just trust in myself, I usually have pretty good results. Swing at strikes and taking balls, and not trying to do too much at the plate. Really, it’s just trying to get myself to relax.” 

Muncy’s incredible power has returned, but his batting average of .196 ranks among the lowest in the major leagues. He has a fantastic knowledge of the strike zone, leading to 52 walks.  

They finished the trip with a 6-3 record. “This road trip was a fantastic road trip” said Dodger skipper Dave Roberts. “I’m really proud of the way we played.”
