Hawthorne, CA. The City of Hawthorne celebrated the arrival of spring on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Hundreds of residents hopped into Hawthorne Memorial Park (3901 W. El Segundo Blvd) for a popular event.

This popular event, the Spring Event, Earth Day, and Service Provider Fair, was a fun-filled day for families in the “City of Good Neighbors.” Today’s community gathering of people from all walks of life produced priceless smiles of kids playing and the sounds of laughter that reverberated throughout the park.
Kywanna Bowie, Deputy Director of Community Services, in a released statement, “this event is a cornerstone of our community outreach, blending seasonal fun with essential advocacy for health, safety, and the environment.” “Our goal is to create a space where families can enjoy a beautiful day at the park while gaining access to the tools and information they need to thrive. From the excitement of the egg hunts to the practical benefits of the Service Provider Fair, there is something for everyone.”
This highly anticipated spring event ensured that guests were thoroughly engaged throughout the day. From carnival games, face painting, arts and crafts, inflatables (jumpers), egg hunts, raffles, and entertainment.
The Service Provider Fair allowed residents to engage with community organizations and receive valuable information about public health, safety, and civic engagement.
The community learned about the importance of being good stewards of Mother Earth by conserving our natural resources in honor of Earth Day. Residents were able to have important documents shredded and to dispose of e-waste on site, and the proper way to dispose of said items in the future.
The egg hunts were another highlight of the day. Organizers block off time for different age groups to participate in the egg hunt. The Easter Bunny was on hand to oversee the fun festivities and pose for selfies with residents.

For the record, let it be known that the City of Hawthorne Got Talent! Parents and I were thrilled to see the creative expressions showcased by homegrown talent. Live entertainment was provided by Fantasia Dance Ensemble in a program of jazz and hip-hop. Grupo Folklorico Mexcaltitan performed an exciting set of traditional dances from several regions of Mexico. The live entertainment concluded with an enthusiastic and energetic performance by Prairie Vista Middle School Dance Team. This talented group of dancers’ routine consisted of ballroom, hip-hop, salsa, and other modern dance styles to the delight of all in attendance.

Several food trucks provided an array of delicious cuisine. The warm weather provided an ideal opportunity to chill with some ice cream courtesy of Kineta Federal Credit Union.
Last but not least, raffles were held throughout the day. Bicycles with helmets and gift cards enhanced the festivities by providing a rewarding experience for participants of all ages.
