One Nation Under a Groove Funk music legend, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bootsy Collins sent his blessings and wife, Patti Collins who is the president of the Bootsy Collins Foundation traveled west to bring their Funk Not Fight initiative which kicked off its second exclusive location in Compton California. Its event was dubbed Funk Not Fight Rally4 Peace West Coast Chapter by Rev Charles L. Brown in Partnership with U-Can International and Associates Peace Project and AJL Enterprise One. The successful event took place this past weekend on Saturday, Dec. 30, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Victory Outreach Ministries, 4205 East Alondra Blvd, in Compton. The “Funk Not Fight Rally4 Peace West Coast Chapter” dared to address today’s rampant and systemic violence which has dramatically affected the lives of Compton residents and communities at large.
World renowned Star Bootsy Collins is invested in initiatives which are dedicated to helping combat the rising tide of violence and unrest in urban communities where his website best summarized its communities struggle through its quote, “In the wake of the unrest of communities around the world, Bootsy Collins and his love funk ambassadors have created an artist-driven campaign (of solutions) which is spreading hope through the power of music.” The West Coast premiere event was organized by U-Can International and Associates, AJL Enterprise One and hosted by Victory Outreach Ministries Compton. The Rally was attended by select Compton dignitaries and community leaders who are seeking to implement change to benefit its youthful generation. The rally focused on fostering positivity, engagement, and understanding, where its event coordinators and leaders provided opportunities to contribute to the future well-being of our communities. Organizers, Bootsy Collins Foundation and U-Can International and Associates inspired and initiated positive change while instilling the virtues of tolerance, empathy, and conflict resolution among our youthful population along with their families.
The Rev. Charles L. Brown, his wife, Minister Pauline M. Brown, and Anthony Lewis were the community leaders who coordinated the West Coast Chapter of the Rally4 Peace. The Rally’s initiative with its aim sought to create safe spaces for open dialogue, awareness, and engagement while providing a platform for local leaders and organizations to share insights with strategies as well as revelation for preventing violence among our younger community.
