Global Walk to Raise Awareness about Violence Against Women and Girls

A walk was held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, to raise awareness of National Violence Against Women and Girls. The walk was held nationally and internationally. Participating cities were Fort Lauderdale, FLA; Washington D.C; Los Angeles; Brooklyn, NY; St. Lucia and Trinidad.

     Inglewood, CA- A walk was held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, to raise awareness of National Violence Against Women and Girls. The walk was held nationally and internationally. Participating cities were Fort Lauderdale, FLA; Washington D.C; Los Angeles; Brooklyn, NY; St. Lucia and Trinidad.

     This year’s theme is Unite and Empower! The walks were in support of eliminating violence against women and girls. According to the organization’s website, “There’s a universal truth transcending countries, countries, and communities: violence against women and girls is never acceptable, excusable or tolerable. “Together we walk not just for today, but for a brighter future where every woman and girl can live in safety and dignity.”

     The Los Angeles Walk was held in Edward Vincent Jr Park in the City of Inglewood. The local walk was led by Joan Chanman-Forbes. The Women’s Roundtable Action Platform, in Trinidad and Tobago is raising awareness about the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls.

     The Women’s Roundtable Action Platform Trinidad and Tobago (WRAP TT) aims to empower women on the R.I.S.E. who aspire to achieve their full potential. These women are Resourceful, Invested, Sincere, and Empathetic servant leaders who are passionate about making a difference. These are four guiding pillars of the organization: Mentorship, Education, Networking, and Access. WRAP TT provides programs and events geared toward propelling women and girls to the next level of their achievement.
