(Los Angeles, CA)- It’s great seeing school kids out and about enjoying all that summer has to offer. Many local cities host engaging, interactive activities for kids of all ages in local parks and community centers. City and county libraries also host events.

Eventually, parents are going to have to sit down with their kids to start one of the most important conversations—Back to School!!!

Impact LA, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering underserved families through food security, education, and community connection, is excited to announce its 6th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Barack Obama Charter School, part of the Ingenium School network, in South Los Angeles.

Each year, Impact LA hosts a Back-to-School Giveaway to gather essential backpacks and school supplies to help prepare youth who can’t afford them for the new school year. These supplies help ensure families don’t have to decide between basic needs and what their children need to be successful in school. This year, Impact LA is continuing its efforts to collect and distribute backpacks to those who need them on August 2 and we’ll be launching a Virtual Fundraiser on August 24 to fulfill our youth program fundraising goals!

This truly amazing event will be hosted by Romeo of the 93.5 KDAY Morning Show. It will serve over 1,000 local youth with free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, meals, kids’ activities, and access to critical community resources.

“We are grateful to have our community organizations and leaders supporting this event—it’s about more than school supplies, it’s about reminding kids that their community believes in them,” said Courtney Lockridge, Executive Director of Impact LA.

Kids, get ready to kick off the new school year in style with a brand-new backpack! Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to stock up on school supplies and enjoy a day of community fun.
