(Hawthorne, CA) National Night Out, the first Tuesday in August, was held on August 5, 2025. This annual event brings law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and the public together to learn about local neighborhood crime, crime prevention tips around the home, and creating neighborhood watch groups while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere.

The City of Inglewood and other cities held their National Night Out on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The City of Hawthorne was one of over three hundred cities in the State of California hosting National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

The City of Hawthorne Police Department and the Hawthorne Community Services Department teamed up to present this annual event. The community came together with neighbors and family to spend an evening getting to know their local police department. Several senior lead officers were on site for a meet and greet.

Several hundred community members were in attendance at the National Night Out held outside of City Hall, 4455 W. 126th Street, Hawthorne, CA. 90250. Guests enjoyed an evening filled with activities to engage the entire family.

A wonderful soundtrack of oldies but goodies reverberated throughout the evening. Entertainment was provided by Tate Simms Band. This tight band consists of Tate Simms on bass guitar and vocals, Chris Kerr on bass and keeping time, and Calvin Milton on drums.

Guests strolled around to visit and engage with a variety of vendor booths. The booths were hosted by your friendly neighborhood councils and local and community organizations. Pizza, popcorn, burritos, water, and coffee were a small sampling of food served at the event.

The bounce house/jumpers are a magnet for kids. One couldn’t help but smile hearing the joy and laughter of kids inside the jumpers. Kids and teens also enjoyed face painting.

Back by popular demand, the Rock Wall was another popular attraction for both kids and teens. The event offered tours of a Swat Truck and selfies with a vintage police cruiser and a fire truck.

There were raffles every thirty minutes throughout the evening. Ara An, Deputy, Constituent Engagement, Second District, County of Los Angeles, presented a scroll to Captain Lane, on behalf of the Office of Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, on this pleasant evening in “The City of Good Neighbors.”
