Born and raised in Washington DC, Malcolm’s upbringing laid the foundation for his future endeavors. “I’d say my career as an impact investor began with the way my parents very intentionally chose to raise my younger brothers and I,” Malcolm reflects. “We’ve always been very actively involved in being a part of our community.”

His journey took him from Washington DC to Indiana to attend the prestigious University of Notre Dame, followed by a brief stint as a professional athlete in the NFL. However, it was his transition to business school and subsequent career in finance that paved the way for his entrepreneurial venture. In 2021, Malcolm founded Langdon Park Capital, focusing exclusively on making responsible investments through workforce housing in the midst of what most would consider an impending housing crisis.

“At Langdon Park Capital, we focus on areas where we know our families have traditionally built communities,” Malcolm explains. “From South Los Angeles to Prince George’s County, Maryland, our aim is to address the needs of working-class families while enhancing the quality of life in these neighborhoods to ensure they are not pushed out.”

Central to Langdon Park Capital’s mission is the belief in empowering residents through financial education and stability. “One of our primary goals is to help our residents become educated on how they can take control of their lives from a financial standpoint,” Malcolm emphasizes. Partnering with organizations to report rent payments to credit bureaus and providing financial literacy programs, Langdon Park Capital strives to uplift its residents and foster economic independence.

Despite the challenges posed by the current economic landscape and the rising crisis of homelessness in Los Angeles County, Malcolm remains steadfast in his commitment to making a difference. “Our ability to attract institutional capital from strong partners has been incredibly helpful, but we’re just getting started,” he asserts. “There’s a lot of hard work ahead of us, but with a dedicated team and a clear vision, we can achieve our goals.”

Looking ahead, Malcolm envisions Langdon Park Capital expanding its impact exponentially. “Today we have four properties worth $150 million, but in five years, I’d love to see that number closer to 50 properties worth $5 billion,” he declares. “The more success we have, the more impact we’ll be able to create.”

In a world where access to quality housing remains a pressing issue, Langdon Park Capital stands as a beacon of hope, bridging communities and transforming lives. With Malcolm Johnson at the helm, the journey towards a brighter future is just beginning.
