When USC hosted Michigan at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum a couple of weeks ago, plenty of Wolverines fans made the trip west — including Michigan superfan Sarah Hubbard. A proud supporter of all things maize and blue, Hubbard truly has “blue in her veins.”
Before kickoff, the “natural-born leader” spent time on the sidelines chatting with alumni, including World Series MVP Derek Jeter. Wearing a Michigan National Championship necklace, she mingled with dignitaries, administrators, and coaches — taking in the atmosphere of one of college football’s storied venues.
“The people of Southern California were incredibly gracious and welcoming — and of course, the weather was amazing,” said Hubbard. “Except for the outcome of the game (USC 31, Michigan 13), we truly enjoyed our time on USC’s campus and found the atmosphere to be among the best in college football.”
A native of Okemos, Michigan, Hubbard was elected to the University of Michigan Board of Regents in 2020. In that role, she has been instrumental in overseeing the university’s $15 billion budget and $20 billion endowment. Her leadership experience includes serving as Board Chair, Chair of the Finance, Audit, and Investment Committee, and Co-Chair of the Presidential Search Committee — positions that highlight her ability to navigate complex governance and financial matters. Her term runs through January 1, 2029.
As an undergraduate, Regent Hubbard helped re-establish the University of Michigan Equestrian Team and continues to ride competitively in the hunter/jumper discipline.
She holds a bachelor’s and an MBA from the University of Michigan, as well as an MPA from Western Michigan University.
When asked what makes the University of Michigan special, Hubbard didn’t hesitate: “Its incredible history of academic excellence coupled with athletic achievements.”
