The Mountain West Conference has announced its Old Trapper Players of the Week, honoring standout performances from Week 9.
New Mexico tight end Cade Keith earned both Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors. Boise State senior cornerback Jeremiah Earby was named Defensive Player of the Week, and San Diego State senior kicker Gabe Plascencia claimed Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.
Cade Keith – New Mexico
Keith, a redshirt freshman from Las Vegas, Nevada (via TCU), had a breakout performance in New Mexico’s 33–14 win over Utah State.
He recorded seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown, including a career-long 40-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter. Four of his seven receptions went for first downs.
Keith was rated the top tight end in the FBS this week by Pro Football Focus (PFF), earning a 96.2 grade.
Jeremiah Earby – Boise State
Earby, a senior from East Palo Alto, California, helped lead Boise State to a 24–3 win over Nevada, clinching bowl eligibility for the Broncos for the 28th consecutive season — the second-longest active streak in the nation.
He tallied four solo tackles and a career-best two interceptions, marking Boise State’s first multi-interception game since 2022. Earby’s second interception came in the end zone for a touchback, stalling a Nevada scoring drive.
Gabe Plascencia – San Diego State
Plascencia, a senior from Oakland, powered the Aztecs’ 23–0 win over Fresno State in the Battle for the Old Oil Can, helping San Diego State become bowl eligible.
He scored 11 points, tying his career high with three field goals from 42, 50, and 27 yards. Plascencia now holds sole possession of the Mountain West record for consecutive field goals made (25), a streak dating back to last season.
He remains perfect on the year (13-for-13) in field-goal attempts.
