Hamilton defeated Westchester 63-52 to claim the LA City Open division title. The win helped run the team’s win streak to 19 games.
The victory also had several players step up. victory, including Senior Jade Fort, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 26 points and five rebounds. The game was Fort’s third in a row tallying at least 18 points. Teammate Kinidi Curl went 7-for-11 for 17 points and added five assists. The Yankees grabbed 15 Offensive rebounds en route to the win. It was business as usual as a team; they nabbed at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Head Coach Sherland Chensam got her first City title after failing twice to Palisades in 2020 and 2021 in the Open Division title game. She also fell to Westchester in the semifinals last season.
“I’ve been up this hill two time already,” said Chensam, who has been at the hem 10 years for the Yankees. “What do they say? Three times is a charm.”
The Yankee record now sits at 27-1. And carry a 19-game win streak. The Comets fell to 22-7 and also had their nine-game winning streak snapped.
