BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – April 28, 2025 — NFL cornerback and Bakersfield native DJ Reed has officially selected Bentley Bowl Soul Food as the exclusive caterer for his Youth Football Camp, taking place Saturday, May 3 from 10 AM to 1 PM at Independence High School. The event is already sold out and will welcome local youth ages 8–14 for a day of training, mentorship, giveaways, and of course—soulful eats.

This marks a major milestone for Bentley Bowl, the rising soul food brand led by brothers Kadar and Bentley Waller, two athletes themselves. Known for their bold bowls stacked with Southern comfort and California flavor, Bentley Bowl will provide lunch for over 350 campers, volunteers, and coaches at the event.

“Having someone like DJ Reed choose us means everything,” said Kadar Waller, Founder and CEO of Bentley Bowl. “It’s more than food—it’s a statement. He’s showing love to a young, local, Black-owned business, and we’re honored to serve our community beside someone who never forgot where he came from.”

DJ Reed, who recently signed a 4-year, $58 million contract with the Detroit Lions, continues to make an impact far beyond the NFL field. His Delta Cowboys Youth Football Camp focuses on performance training, mentorship, and personal growth. Reed’s own journey from Bakersfield to becoming one of the top-ranked cornerbacks in the league is a story of grit, faith, and giving back.

“I always say—bring those who grind along with you,” said DJ Reed. “Bentley Bowl is doing something special in our city, and I want these kids to see what happens when you bet on yourself and never stop hustling. This camp is about hope, heart, and hometown pride.”

Campers will leave with t-shirts, giveaways, and a full stomach thanks to Bentley Bowl—but more importantly—with inspiration. Reed’s example of paying it forward is one these kids will carry for life.
